The Galaxy British Book Awards are the publishing industry's equivalent of the BAFTA's or the Oscars and are the glitziest event in the UK book trade industry's calendar. The Awards celebrate the nation's favourite books, authors and publishers.
The Galaxy British Book Awards were founded and are still organised by Publishing News Ltd and are now sponsored by Galaxy.
The Awards are now into their 20th year.
The nickname 'The Nibbies' refers to the prestigious pen-nib shaped awards that are given to winners.
The Awards will take place on Friday 3rd April 2009 at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, SW1
