The Galaxy British Book Awards go mobile

THE Galaxy British Book Awards have announced that ICUE will run a mobile download and voting service for the shortlisted books. The service will allow consumers to download sample first chapters for all shortlisted books for free and to vote for each category via their mobile phone.
The initiative also offers increased sales potential for shortlisted titles and additional brand exposure for all Galaxy British Book Award sponsors, when consumers go for the 'Click to Buy' option. Mobile marketing will make use of cutting edge technology to encourage voting among a younger and wider demographic.
Alastair Giles, Executive Director of Galaxy British Book Awards, says: "We are pleased to enter into a partnership with ICUE to run this innovative mobile download and voting service for the Galaxy British Book Award's shortlisted titles. The promotion will help achieve our aim of promoting the Awards to a younger audience, whilst offering our sponsors brand exposure and creating a sense of anticipation regarding the announcement of the winner."
ICUE's Jane Tappuni says: "We are delighted that The Galaxy Book Awards have appointed ICUE to run mobile downloads and voting - each download will have a Click to Buy option via the sponsor's site. This creates a great opportunity to develop a new sales channel for books, using the mobile as a shop window for books: we hope that thousands of people will be walking around with book content embedded their phones."
The 'Click to Buy' option acts as a virtual shop window for books, providing the opportunity to covert sample chapter downloads directly into book sales.
This promotion will launch on Tuesday 10th March 2009 to coincide with the unveiling of the Galaxy British Book Award shortlist.
