Fred Newman, Nibbies' founder, dies

FRED NEWMAN, who founded the British Book Awards - more latterly the Galaxy British Book Awards - in 1989, has died. Fred was also the co-founder of Publishing News 39 years ago and continued as Chairman of the company until his death. Jo Henry, Managing Director of Publishing News Ltd, announced the death of Fred, 76, who passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday, 12 November in Brighton having battled cancer for some years. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia and three children Mark, Deborah and Stephanie.
