  • Arts Council England Diversity Award in Literature
    Arts Council England and the publishing industry have worked together for several years to promote diversity within the book trade. Among many successful initiatives have been the establishment of DipNet, the Diversity in Publishing Network, a Diversity Traineeships programme in partnership with publishers, a conference on Diversity and Children's Literature, and a retail promotion targeted at black and minority ethnic audiences. The Arts Council England Diversity Award in Literature celebrates an organisation or individual who has, in the past year, made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of diversity within the world of books and literature.

  • The Independent Alliance is a global alliance of ten UK publishers and their international partners who share a common vision of editorial excellence, original, diverse publishing, innovation in marketing and commercial success.
    The founding publishers of the Independent Alliance were Faber and Faber, Atlantic Books, Canongate, Icon Books, Profile Books and Short Books who came to partnership in July 2005. Quercus Publishing joined in September 2005, Serpent's Tail - part of Profile Books - in January 2007, and Granta in September 2007. Monthly meetings are held where representatives from the media are invited to speak to publicists about the ways in which they can feature authors and their books, and how book publicists can most effectively provide relevant information and material.
