  • JK Rowling will be publishing her first book since the final Harry Potter - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - in time for Christmas this year Bloomsbury, in association with the Children's High Level Group, has announced the publication on December 4of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, A "a richly magical collection of tales from J. K. Rowling that will satisfy fans and new readers alike". The Tales of Beedle the Bard played a crucial role in assisting Harry, aided by his friends Ron and Hermione, to finally defeat Lord Voldemort. Now fans will have the opportunity to read the tales in full.
Rowling originally handwrote and illustrated six copies of the book as thank-yous to people closely involved with the Harry Potter books. A seventh copy, bound in brown morocco leather and mounted with silver and semiprecious stones, was auctioned at Sotheby's last December, eventually being bought by online bookseller Amazon for £1.95m.
Published in association with the Children's High Level Group (CHLG) £1.61 from every sale of Bloomsbury's edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard will be donated to the Children's High Level Group, the charity co-founded in 2005 by Rowling and Emma Nicholson MEP to make life better for vulnerable children.
